Two years ago I said goodbye to a shop I spent like 13 years in. 2 and 1/2 working for someone, then acquiring it and beginning 12 oz Studios. I spent 10 years in this building as 12 oz studios. Building a name for myself and creating a brand that can be trusted. It is surreal to know this is where I really grew up. In a tattoo shop. So many memories. So many struggles. From temporarily living in the shop, in order to make my dreams happen. To making the best friends a person can have. This is the day I removed our logo from the building I was renting. To installing it into the building that we own. Sometime the universe knows what it’s doing. This week I also celebrate my 20th year tattooing, the 2nd year in our new building and last January the 12th year of 12 oz studios. We will celebrate, stay tuned. Thank you past and my present artist. You are the sh!£!!!!!!! You, our customers, you are our reasons why we get to do what we do. We ❤️❤️❤️❤️you!!!!
We are extremely proud to announce that our founder Alex Feliciano will be a part of CITICIEN: 100 Puerto Rican Artists, 100 Years of the Jones-Shafroth Act art exhibition this weekend in New York City. Signed in 1917 by President Wilson, The Jones-Shafroth Act granted U.S. citizenship to anyone born in Puerto Rico on or after April 25, 1898, becoming a complex and significant turning point for the people of Puerto Rico. Following strict visual guidelines of size and a black-and-white only palette, the exhibit’s theme is one of visual consistency and commitment, acting as a metaphor of the unified voice and solidarity of Puerto Ricans during this critical political time.

The exhibit was created by Defend Puerto Rico, a multimedia project designed to document and celebrate Puerto Rican creativity, resilience, and resistance. Defend PR seeks to deepen connections between Puerto Ricans on the island and throughout the diaspora, in the hopes of nurturing greater solidarity, collaboration, and kinship.
The CITICIEN opening reception is today, Thursday March 2nd, from 6pm to 10pm at the Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center in New York City. If you are in the NYC area take some time to check out amazing work from 100 different artists. The CITICIEN exhibit runs from March 2nd to March 5th.
Today, January 13, 2017, we celebrate our twelfth anniversary. When we opened our doors in 2005 with just two artists and a piercer, we could not have imagined our little shop would grow into the force we are today. We were just a few artists that wanted a space to feed our creativity. Since then, we’ve flourished. 12 oz. Studios now has two locations, ten artists, and the only Association of Professional Piercers member in southern New Jersey.
In light of this momentous occasion, we wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone, both past and present, that helped us along the way. Thank you to our dedicated crew of tattoo artists and piercers that have encouraged and inspired us. Thank you to our receptionists for keeping our shops running like well-oiled machines. Thank you to our manager for always dotting the i’s, crossing the t’s, and keeping everything glued together.
And to you, our loyal customers, we give you our sincerest thank you for your business, your ideas, and your friendship. You continue to give us the greatest gift – the opportunity to create.
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone!
Once again our annual toy drive for the Center for Family Services was a success! It’s because of our incredibly generous clients that kids in our area will have an amazing Christmas this year. Congratulations to our toy drive gift certificate raffle winners Dan McCartney, Angie Austin, Clarissa Kessler, and Nicole Timm. More importantly, thank you to everyone who took the time to donate a toy to help kids who really need a merry Christmas. We couldn’t ask for better clients. Thank you all again and happy holidays everyone!
SOURCE: Best Businesses of Deptford Award Program
12 Oz Studios has been selected for the 2016 Best Businesses of Deptford Award in the Tattoo category by the Best Businesses of Deptford Award Program. This is the second time since 2015 that 12 Oz Studios has been selected for this award.
Each year, the Best Businesses of Deptford Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Deptford area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each
category. The 2016 Best Businesses of Deptford Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Best Businesses of Deptford Award Program and data provided by third parties.

The 2016 Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention was incredible! We had a record 4 booths this year with eight out of ten 12 oz. tattooers working all weekend long and showing off the best tattoos that South Jersey has to offer. In attendance were our very own Bobby Trefz, Rebecca La Norma, Meghan Patrick, Alex Feliciano, Tami Rose, Chris Curtis, Kevin Soto, and Jose Bolorin. Not only were these talented folks tattooing their asses off, they also created and brought beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces of art to exhibit and sell. Alex even made a 12 oz. Studios “Crown and Arrows” lighted podium, which had an almost bat-signal quality that drew in convention goers to our booth. The crew made friends with artists from across the globe and hopes to exchange guest spots with one another in the future. Check out the photos below!
12 oz Studios is proud to welcome tattoo artist Mike Sedges to our Brooklawn, NJ shop! Mike comes to us from Empire Tattoo Inc. located in Clementon, NJ. He originally got his start working in the tattoo industry in 2001 and has been tattooing since 2005. Mike currently works at our Brooklawn shop Sunday through Wednesday and Friday (Sunday’s are by appointment only). We are very excited to have Mike working alongside our extraordinarily talented roster of tattoo artists at 12 oz. To see examples of Mike’s work check out his page under ‘Artists at Brooklawn’ or click here. Also, make sure you follow along with all of our social media accounts to see incredible work by Mike and all of the artists at 12 oz. Studios. Welcome, Mike!
In January 2005, we opened our doors for the first time. 12 oz started out with one studio, located in Brooklawn, NJ and only two employees – artistic geniuses Alex Feliciano and Meghan Patrick. In addition to tending to their customers on a daily basis, they also dedicated themselves to growing the business and branching out the 12 oz name. And here, 11 years later, we have grown into 2 locations in Brooklawn and Deptford, with 10 amazing artists and piercer, and even our own clothing line!
Today the fine folks at NJ.com announced the winner of New Jersey’s Best Tattoo Shop contest and unfortunately, it was not 12 oz. Studios. Sure we’re a little bummed, but we can’t begin to thank all of YOU for your love, support and encouragement throughout this entire contest and beyond! We truly love all of our clients! You make tattooing and piercing way more fun and exciting than it already is! It was a thrill to be a part of the top 5 and we are so grateful for your hard work in getting out the vote to everyone. Congratulations to Rorschach Gallery in Edison, NJ for grabbing the number 1 spot! We hope NJ.com holds another contest next year so we can go for the gold once again!
